Hackathon

Challenges with students from various institutes in which technology also puts itself at the service of the community

Cyber Theft Simulation Game in cooperation with ITS Foundation – JobsAcademy students.

The students were divided into five teams: in the first part of the Hackathon, the individual teams had to answer a test consisting of choice and open-ended questions on topics related to Cyber Security.
We then asked the five teams (Star, Light, Focus, Game and Rocket) to imagine that they were ethical hackers and simulate a cyber attack on a company in the pharmaceutical sector, with the aim of gaining access to sensitive data, starting with patient records, passing through research results, to sales information. A number of questions had to be considered when dealing with the simulation:

What vulnerabilities could be exploited to access the company’s data? What tools and techniques could be used to breach the company’s security? What could be the consequences of the attack for the company and its customers/patients? How could the company prevent future attacks?

The activity was organised in collaboration with Ethical Hacker Matteo Cuscusa and coordinated by Stefano Lorenzi and Massimo Brugnoli, respectively SOC Manager and BU Cyber Security Manager of WeAreProject.

The winning team of the hackathon was revealed at the ‘Cyber Security & Sustainability, Challenges for the future’ summit, staged in Caravaggio (BG) on 24 May. The winner was the Rocket team, composed of Federico Bonomi, Ivan Campana, Mario Cantale, Simone Mecca and Claudio Pasinelli.

“The choice of the winning team was dictated by the fact that the Rocket team presented the attack simulation in an accurate, convincing and detailed manner: it meticulously addressed both the initial analysis part, detailing the motivation for the choice of the target (without aiming too high, but not too low either), and the attack on the company, finally hypothesising a remedy by the affected organisation that should be a stimulus for continuous improvement in the area of security.”

Ideas4Future Project

As of November 2023, we have allocated part of our commitment to the Ideas4Future project at ITI Marconi in Dalmine.
The boys and girls at the institute worked applying the Design Thinking model to the challenge that our organization presented to them, which is closely related to the topic of GENDER EQUALITY that is very close to our company’s heart.

Our committee on gender equality in January 2024 mingled among the boys and girls at the various work tables to listen to their project ideas that consisted of answering this question:

Since there are many stereotypes about the jobs and professions of the future…it seems that there are jobs and professions only for women and only for men, how can we work on this issue?
Imagine and design solutions that can solve or mitigate the gender gap in access to the world of work.
