Founded in Beijing in 1984, Lenovo made its market debut by selling televisions to the Chinese public. However, the venture was not as successful as expected, so the company decided to enter the world of computer electronics by creating a device capable of providing computers with Chinese-language functionality. One of these functions was the production of boards that enabled IBM’s first commercial computers to process Chinese characters, a tool that brought the company closer to the European market. The new company was reborn in a different guise in 1988 with the introduction of the Legend PC, its first personal computer. The project finally produced the expected results, winning over the Chinese people and boosting sales.

In 1993, Lenovo produced the first personal computer in Chinese history with an Intel Pentium processor, and in 1996 it became the market leader in desktop PC sales in China and produced its first laptop. The company went on to enjoy years of great success, becoming the leading manufacturer of computers and laptops in the Asia-Pacific region and gaining significant market share overseas.

Today, Lenovo is a leading brand that has embarked on a journey to sell not only its flagship products (computers, laptops, smartphones, tablets, infrastructure, servers and storage) but also solutions and services, resulting in a new brand strategy under the new name Lenovo 360.
